Fractions around the home.

Boy on a bike.

This is about a story called “Boy on a bike.” This boy wanted to live his big achievement of riding a bike the length of the north island. But the only terrible reason was he had to bike 3,000 kilometres, crazy right! Mac didn’t know if he could make it or let everyone down. Mac would use the safest bike he saw and it was a fat one. It’s thick tyres would mean Mac could travel through mud, sand and different kind of things that are hard to ride in. Mac had to train all day, night, morning every time and weekends. Sometimes Mac and his Dad cycles there bike to 80 kilometres. Every time they trained if felt like their muscles got used to doing exercise and biking. Since they got use to exercise they started training longer and faster. Mac thought how much would it cost to bike all the way? Where would they stay? Well he started studying elevatation charts in the guidebook.. This shows the length of hills and it kind of helped him what was heading ahead of him. Mac didn’t know the point of him biking all the way. So he talked to the St John people about his idea and they were impressed. Mac’s goal of money he wanted to raise was 5’000 dollars. By the end of that day Mac raised 1,500 dollars so he knows he was far from his amount that he wanted to raise. But at least heaps of people gave him advice to keep biking. Mac and his farther finally reached Ahipara camp after heaps of days of biking. They cycled 96 kilometres, mostly into a terrible 90 mile beach. It took them 11 and a half hours to bike there and they were exhausted. They only had 1,227 kilometres to go! Mac got fitter and stronger. The hills got easier and the further he rode. When Mac got into Welington he felt all kind of emotions. He really wanted to see his mum and brother again. He couldn’t help feeling sad that his adventure was coming to an end. Mac raised over 7,000 dollars for St Johns. Mac thought about travelling to the south islands. He could maybe do both in one adventure but it was up to his parents.

The chef for a day!

-Wash all the vegetables under the tap and scrunch them up to make it look delicious.

-Crack the egg into a pan for 5-10 minutes and wait until it's perfectly white then spray anything that looks like smoke BUT it has to be edible.

-For the snail shells, you just cook them in the pan for 5-10 minutes. Snail shells are a side snack for that extra crunch.

-Cut the mushrooms up into little pieces so they can be easier to eat. Leave them in the pot for 10-15 minutes. Wait for them to be ready and ONLY put a PINCH of salt.

-For the steak it’s going to be very difficult. Put the oil on first then preheat the pan to 375 degrees. Preheat it until it’s smoking hot. Leave it on for 4-5 minutes to make it look golden brown. Add the garlic butter first, then the salt and pepper to make it look DELICIOUS!

And..you're finished!

Charlotte's Web Review.

This term we've been reading a book called "Charlotte's web" and today we did a review about the book and movie.

My favourite character from Charlotte's web is Charlotte. The reason why she is my favourite is because she's a very kind friend and she is a friend you want. Also my favourite part about the movie is when Charlotte helps Wilbur not to die. When Charlotte gave birth to her babies I felt so sad for her because when she passed away she didn't get a chance to see her babies.

The moral of the story is "Never judge a book by its cover" and "always make most of your time with your friends."

My star rating of this out of 10 is 9/10. When Fern was doing her work Wilbur kept complaining and Fern tried to make him shush. When the teacher came over and opened her desk, Fern felt so embarrassed that she brought a pig.

Hope you like it!
